This activity requires relatively little start-up capital compared to raising other livestock. This means that small farmers and even agricultural workers can start farming on a small scale. While the chickens start laying eggs in 8 to 10 weeks, they can be sold after 6 weeks when they have grown to a weight of 1.25 kg. The investment quickly pays off. The gap between generations is very small, so production can be increased within a short period of time.
