Teilangrius lives with his parents and 6 siblings in Khahnar, a small village in a mountainous region. He was very happy to finally be able to go to school. He was happy to learn to read, write and do arithmetic, as his parents had not been able to do this as children. But after a short time his little happiness was suddenly ended: his parents could no longer afford his school attendance and so he had to stay at home to help with the work in the house and in the fields and to contribute to the maintenance of the family.
Based on more than 18 years of intensive project work in India, we have gained a lot of experience in carrying out the necessary aid measures. In discussions with our partners on site, it quickly became clear in which areas help was urgently needed: it is the children and the families who need support.
Dropping out of school
Dropping out of school is not uncommon here. But not, as one might assume, out of reluctance or refusal. It is the family's economic situation that does not allow them to pay school fees.
School routes
The schools are also often far away from home. This makes attending school even more difficult. Because the students - together with other students - need accommodation or are dependent on rooms in a hostel. Ordinary families cannot cope with this financial challenge. The poverty screw keeps turning!
Our activity
Our main goal is to enable the children to receive an education through sponsorship and thus to get the families out of the poverty trap. The children should achieve a self-determined and independent life through their own and family strengths.
Your sponsorship
With a sponsorship you help the family by covering the costs of a personal sponsored child for:
• Learning material
• School uniform
• School fees
• Accommodation in a hostel or shared apartment
With this help, children like Teilangrius can be able to attend school and learn so that they can later provide their own families with a better life.
